Day Three Ice Age Trail

Moody Mother Nature

When Mother Nature gets moody and unpredictable…laugh it off and flow with. “Plot twist!”

Day 3 brought 20mph gusts, an icy 21-22 windchill and snow flurries instead of the planned-upon 40s, dry and overcast.

Thankfully our amazing Trail Angel, Heidi, cooked us a delicious and hearty breakfast to start the day off right! We very much appreciate the kindness and generosity we’ve received from trail supporters.

After 4 hours of getting punished by the weather, we reconsidered the day’s quest.

The headwind became so strong that it pushed us around the road; additionally, it was difficult to record and some of my audio is unusable.

My Grandmother Grace, Green Bay-native, could handle any weather and she’d always say, “The wind is my enemy!”

It’s certainly a nemesis to filmmaking and hiking.

We left the trail a day early in good spirits, our resolve strong to get back out there soon with intentions for calmer weather.

Buen Camino!
