It’s a long trek to the Serengeti and totally worth it. One could stay in a lodge…OR go straight back to camping-style, which I chose to straight off Mount Kilimanjaro.
I went to sleep around the fire hearing lions growl, (200m away) zebras bray and hyenas howl! They hyenas came running past my tent early on in the night.
Yikes! We were scared to leave our tents to pee. I still went for it at 3am with a flashlight.
We saw more animals than most on our very first day in the Serengeti thanks to our aggressive safari guide.
If you’ve never been on a Safari, you must go!
