Adventures In Malaysia

I Was Blown Away By This Country!

Landing on the island of Penang was my first encounter with the country of Malaysia and I didn’t anticipate that I’d love it so much!

A girlfriend of mine from the USA was working in Penang and invited me to visit her during a visa run from Bali.

Only a couple days in Penang was certainly not enough, and “eating” was the theme of the adventure, as its known to be foodie mecca for those with a culinary passion.

Malaysia has 878 islands, and so far I’ve explored only two of them: Penang and Langkawi.

Langkawi is a gorgeous, jungle island boasting the world’s highest sky-bridge.

It’s surrounded by the warm Andaman Sea, which I found perfect for swimming and jet-skiing.

Mainland Malaysia helped me check off a bucket list item, which was to visit the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, which remain the tallest twin towers in the world.

The 42.7-meter golden statue of Lord Murugan standing afoot of the Batu Caves, was also fascinating sight to see. Before a bat cave spelunking quest, I accepted a blessing from a priest inside the deity’s temple.

The Kuala Lumpur Central Market is also a vibrant hot spot to explore with much to see and do.  I was delighted to experience a custom henna tattoo design on my arm, as well as shriek with laughter during their aggressive fish pedicures.

I’ve explored Malaysia twice so far, and I am enthusiastic about returning and discovering more island adventures.

If you haven’t visited Malaysia yet, or even considered exploring this country whilst in Southeast Asia, I highly recommend adding it to your travel itinerary.
